Silver Red Spinel & Hearts Earrings

These beautiful earrings feature a Silver charm cut from silver sheet, stamped with hearts and polished by hand. The charms are accented with a pair of stunning ruby red AA Spinel buttons and the earrings are completed with handmade Silver earwires.

Spinel is a relatively rare gemstone that has been mistaken for Ruby throughout history. The Black Prince's Ruby in the Imperial State Crown of the UK is in fact a large Spinel and not a Ruby.  Spinel is sometimes used as a substitute for the July birthstone Ruby because of its similar appearance. It is however one of the official alternative birthstones of August.
